Ealing’s libraries are changing. The Council has decided not to run the branch libraries from next April. This includes Hanwell Library.

We at Ealing Law Centre want to make sure that Hanwell Library stays open. We are a well established local charity at the heart of Ealing’s advice community providing free high quality advice and representation and support to Ealing residents. Last year we got an award for best non-profit legal aid provider in the country.

We love the library as it is but we know it can be even better and do so much more. We want to see it develop as a thriving community hub.

We love the library

Books and reading will always be at the heart of Hanwell Community Library but we aim to ensure that there will be something here for everyone:

  • Ealing Law Centre will be based at the library and continue to provide free legal advice and representation
  • Help with online applications and form filling
  • Homework and study groups
  • Book club
  • Mother and toddler reading groups
  • Literary events
  • Poetry group
  • Talks on a variety of subjects

We can’t do this without you

The library belongs to all of us, young and old, long term residents and newly arrived. Tell us your ideas. Come and help us make the vision a reality.

Will you help us to keep the library open?

  • Volunteer in the library – minimum 3 hours a month
  • Become a friend of Hanwell Community Library

We are gathering views on the potential for running the Hanwell library as a community led resource. This would keep the library open and potentially enable more activities to take place there. Please complete the online survey below or download a copy here.
